Las Vegas police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that unfolded near the iconic Bellagio fountains. Authorities report that 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz turned himself in on June 9 after being named as the prime suspect in the tragic event.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Ruiz is accused of fatally shooting two people in front of the popular tourist attraction late Sunday night around 10:40 p.m. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their identities have not yet been released.
Police say that Ruiz and the victims knew each other and had a prior conflict that escalated on social media before erupting into violence.
Ruiz now faces two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon.
“Right now, every effort is being made by members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to locate, apprehend and arrest this suspect,” said LVMPD spokesperson Officer Walsh in a statement posted on X.
Police believe they have identified the victims and are continuing to work diligently to notify family members and secure justice for the victims.
